Top Books I Want To Read In 2021

Jan 31, 2021

Happy new year! New year, new tbr. That’s why today I wanted to share with you all the top books I want to read this year. Let’s face it, this could change throughout the year.

Now, I do want to warn the books I’m going to mention are not the most popular books in the present moment. I’m behind in comparison to what every other book-tubers or book-bloggers are reading so these are all books that came out years ago and I just haven’t read.

A Sky Beyond The Storm by Sabaa Tahir

This is literally the only book on this list that came out recently. I’ve been reading An Ember In The Ashes Series since 2018 when I think the hype for the series was the highest. I’ve really enjoyed this series so much and this is the final book but I’m not sad since I’ve had so much fun with it.

My favorite characters are Helene and Avitas by far. Not that I don’t like the others but Helene and Avitas are so kick ass馃挄馃挭. This is a series full of love, passion, war, politics, magic, drama, death and life. It has everything and the more books you read the bigger the challenge. I love it and I can’t wait to read this book.

Random thought: Can we talk about the fact that Helene wasn't on the cover of the first book and we didn't get to read from her point of view. Then she was on the cover of the next two books and we got to read from her point of view. Does this mean we don't get to read from her perspective in this one?馃槶

In case you haven’t heard of this series I will show you part of the goodreads summary.

"Laia is a slave. Elias is a soldier. Neither is free.

Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear.

It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do.”

A Court of Thorns & Roses by Sarah J. Maas

I started this series in 2017. That year I read A Court of Thorns & Roses and I had the second book but I just never read it. I still remember very vague random non-specific moments but nothing that could help me put the plot together. So this year I hope I get to re-read the first book and read at least the second book A Court of Mist & Fury. I also remember not picking up the second book back in 2017 because it is SO big and the font is tiny and that’s scary. But this year I will read it ... seriously.

A new trilogy for this series has been confirmed and the first one, titled A Court of Silver Flames, is coming out on February 16th. My thoughts on this first trilogy will determine if I will continue to read the new books or if I will stop there.

The first book is inspired by Beauty & The Beast. I'd like to say this is Beauty & The Beast but for adults and much more complicated.

"Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jeweled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre's presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever."

Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen

I’ve wanted to read this book since it came out… okay, just kidding馃槣. Can you believe Pride & Prejudice came out two centuries ago!? What I would give to have lived in that time. They were simpler times. I’ve wanted to read this book for a couple of years now, I always knew about it but I’ve heard so many amazing things in recent years that it really sparked my interest. But what really led me to picking it up (Oh, I didn’t mention I already started it) was watching Bridgerton. I know, what a cliche but I loved that show so much and I’ve always loved the 19th century so when I finished watching it I just felt the need of consuming another story like that. This book was in my tbr pile for this year anyway so this show came in a good time.

I’m already on page 40 and I hate Mr. Darcy. I hate him. I love that Elizabeth doesn't like him because I can’t stand him. I hope he changes and stops being such a snob and that the story progresses to reveal a more agreeable romance than what I’m reading at the moment.

"The romantic clash between the opinionated Elizabeth and her proud beau, Mr. Darcy, is a splendid performance of civilized sparring. And Jane Austen's radiant wit sparkles as her characters dance a delicate quadrille of flirtation and intrigue, making this book the most superb comedy of manners of Regency England."

This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity Duology) by V.E. Schwab

In 2018 I read A Darker Shade of Magic and I LOVED those books. I still think about them constantly and I want to re-read them since then. So naturally I want to read more books by V.E. Schwab. I picked these because is a duology so I can finish them faster. I have absolutely no clue what they’re about and I would like to keep it that way and be surprised whether for good or for bad. The only thing I know is that there’s like magical music? I don’t know.

"The world is breaking. And so are they.

Kate Harker isn't afraid of monsters. She hunts them. And she's good at it.

August Flynn once yearned to be human. He has a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.
The war has begun. The monsters are winning."

That's it for what I have planned for this year. I will maybe read other books along the way but these are the ones that I really want to get to this year. Comment down below if you want to suggest any other book.

Thank you for reading!

If you liked it leave a comment and share it with your friends :)
