My 2021 Bullet Journal

Jan 24, 2021

Hi guys!

Bullet journal cover with 2021 writen on it.
Today I wanted to share with you all the spreads I did for my bullet journal this year. This is going to be my third year doing bullet journal however last year (2020 sucked) I just didn't follow through. I just felt like there wasn't much to document and besides, I mostly use it to organize what I need to do in the week and I just didn't feel like I had much to do. So basically my 2020 bullet journal is for the most part empty.

Now, what I'm going to show you is just my take on bullet journals. I'm by no means an expert nor do I include many other spreads a lot of people would include. I like to keep it simple for me or at least what I think is simple considering what I've seen other people do. I also don't know how to do lettering so you won't see those beautiful colorful spreads you can probably find on Pinterest, mine are pretty basic. I hope you like my bullet journal for this year and you get inspiration for your spreads or even get inspired to start your own bullet journal if you have never done it.

First of all, I'd like to talk about the materials I used. All the items I used I bought on my local store but I tried to find similar items on Amazon so I'll leave the links as I mention them.

My bullet journal minimalist notebook.
I don't really like bound notebooks and I think that's part of the reason I didn't use my bullet journal that much last year (it was a bound notebook whereas my 2019 bullet journal was a spiral-bound notebook), I just think they're more difficult to manipulate. I'm always looking for ways to save a little money so what I did was I bought a sketch book with blank pages and then I printed the dots with my printer at home (I will leave the link of the PDF file I used). I didn't only do this for the money but because I wanted to make sure I got a notebook with thick enough pages so the ink wouldn't bleed through them. I will leave the links for both a notebook similar to what I used and a notebook with doted pages. I made sure in both cases the pages where a little more thick than regular paper and also that you can choose the notebook size (the size of mine is B5 which is 6.9 in x 9.8 in). Also as you can see the cover of the notebook is very plain so I thought I could get creative and paint it or draw something on it and you could do the same with yours.

Showing the 0.3 mm black ink drawing pen I use for my bullet journal. Brand: Artline.
The pen I used for the body of my pages was a 0.3 millimetre black ink drawing pen. The pens I used for the header of the pages and other details were the Paper Mate Inkjoy Candy Pop pens that come in 10 different colors. They were actually a gift so I just had them around so I thought I'd better get some use out of them. I will leave the link for them but you can also use pens you have laying around at home.

Now I can finally start to talk about what's inside my bullet journal. Don't mind my bullet journal being is Spanish, my first language is actually Spanish so please forgive any mistakes in my writing馃槄.
Yearly spreads to know the day of each month and the events in your bullet journal.
The first page I did is very simple. It just says 2021 on it and I'm planning to write down the goals I have for this year, I'm just not sure what those goals are yet.

Then I did a spread of all the months in the year and in the page next to it I wrote down all the important events or birthdays happening each month. For the lettering I went with simple 'just what I know how to do' cursive.

Period and sickness tracker in bullet journal.Next I set out the trackers for this year. The first thing I want to keep track throughout the year is off course none other than my period. I did them horizontally because I discovered that, considering the size of my notebook, I could fit more trackers that way. The second tracker I made was for sickness. This is because I used to be a person who didn't get sick that much but in recent years I've been getting sick a lot more often so I just want to know really how often. At the bottom of the page I have space to add another tracker if I want to. You can see I changed the lettering of the headers in this page for a bigger bulkier one.

Movies spread in bullet journal. It shows the list of movies coming out this year and the movies you've watched per month.
Then we have my movie spreads. First we have the list of movies I want to watch this year (Not showing you this because it's literally just a simple page with a list of movies). These movies are mainly movies that I've always wanted to watch or that came out in recent years that I just for some reason haven't watched. Actually, I know the reason, I have a time commitment issue with movies. I always think they are so long I could be doing so many other things but this year is going to be different... I hope. Next we have the movies premiering this year per month that I'm interested in, which are no that many as you can see. And lastly we have the movies I've watched. There are four slots per month because I hope to watch at least one movie per week. Here you can see I started to use color for the headers.

Books spread on bullet journal. The list of books you want to read, a little doodle shelf to write down the books you have read and a reading log to rate the books.
Next we have my books spread. It is only a page because I'm not setting my expectations too high this year. Last year I only read 6 books and that's okay. My goal is to read 12 books this year. I know a lot of people consider that to be very low but you know what? This is not a competition and I think you should do what's best for you and what works for you and what you feel comfortable with. Every person is in their own path. Now, in the spread first we have the list of books I want to read this year. Next to that we have a little drawing of a shelf where I plan to write down the books I've already read in the spine of every book. And at the bottom we have a reading log where I'll write down the title of the book, how many stars I give the book and the date I finish it.

Series log in bullet journal. Little tv doodle per month to write down the series you have watch each month.
Then we have a spread that's new to me since I had never considered doing it but this year I'm also trying to watch more series because I feel like I'm behind in so many good ones that have come out and also older ones I've always wanted to watch. Sex & The City is actually one of them I'm hoping to finish this year. First we have doodles of old TVs I made to write down the season of the series I've watched each month (I already watched Bridgerton and I loved it馃挄). Then we have kind of like a series log where I have the series that I want to watch and how many seasons are there so I can circle each season as I make my way through the series. Finally, next to that, there's a space to write down the series that are coming out or that have new seasons coming out this year.

Monthly spread in your bullet journal to write down the events and things to do this month and also a monthly tracker at the end.
We're getting to the end because now we have my monthly spread. In here first we have a section to write what I need to get done throughout the month. On the right there are different sections. First we have the days of the month. Below that we have a section with the important events happening that month like birthdays, medical appointments, etc. Lastly on the right, we have basically the media I want to consume that month: series, books and/or movies. On the very bottom of the page we have a monthly tracker. There are some things I need to remember because I have a terrible memory. I track how often I wash my hair or clothes because it could be days and days and days before I remember to do any of that again. Again, I track my period. I'm trying to be more flexible so I track how often I stretch. I've ALWAYS wanted to play piano so I'm going to track how often I practice.

A weekly bullet journal spread to write down what I need to get done each day of the week so it has 7 boxes, one for each day.
Last but not least, there's my week spread. I keep it very simple. I mostly, like I mentioned before, use this spread to organize what I need to get done every day of the week and I really try to make sure I stick to it. I have a section for each day of the week and then lastly a section for what's left for me to do next week.

Aaand... that's the end. That's my bullet journal for 2021. I like to know that I can add more spreads throughout the year if something comes up so I'll keep you posted if you want. I hope you liked it, I hope you found some ideas you want to implement to yours. Let me know in the comments what you liked, what you would change, if you have more spread ideas, whats spreads are you going to do in your journal. I'd REALLY love to know.

I guess all that's left for me to say is happy new year and let the 2021 games begin!

If you liked it leave a comment and share it with your friends :)
