Reading Habits Book Tag

Hi! Today I thought I'd do this book tag to tell you what my reading habits are. Since I'm relatively new to the community I figured this would help you get to know me better and, if you leave a comment, help me get to know you better.

Let's start with the book tag!

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

I usually read in my bed. Actually now that I think about it, I ALWAYS read in my bed. The few times I get bored of reading in my bed I move to the couch.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Definitely bookmark. I have a collection of bookmarks and I keep adding more to it, even though I really just use like two of them.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

I'd prefer to stop at the end of a chapter because that way I can feel like I've accomplished something or I've gotten to a goal. It doesn't bother me to stop at any point at the book but I tend to feel like I've left something uncompleted, even though I obviously know in any case I've left the book uncompleted.

Do you eat or drink whilst reading?

I literally can't eat while I'm reading for several reasons. I don't like having my hands dirty while holding the book in my hands or turning the pages. I can NOT concentrate with the sound of food being scrunched inside my mouth because it takes doesn't let you hear anything but that. I get too distracted if I read while I'm eating and it ends up taking me hours to do both at the same time.

I usually don't drink anything either but it doesn't bother me to do it. If I'm drinking something while I'm reading it's usually hot coffee or iced coffee.

Multitasking: Music or TV whilst reading?

I wish I could multitask while I'm reading but I can't. I don't like to listen to any sound that can be too distracting while I'm reading like music or TV shows. Sometimes if someone in my family is watching a TV show and I want to move to the couch I will read anyway but really I prefer not having any distracting sounds.

One book at a time or several?

I can read several books at a time IF I'm reading them in different formats... kind of. For example I can listen to an audio book and read a physical book. But I can't read two physical books or a physical book and an eBook. I feel like I'm cheating on one of the books and I'm not paying enough attention to it. That's why I'm always listening to an audio book and reading a book and why I tend to ignore my large physical tbr pile while reading eBooks.

Reading at home or everywhere?

I prefer to read at home but I don't mind reading anywhere. I ALWAYS bring a book with me (a tendency inspired by Rory Gilmore) so I always have something to read. I always listen to audio books on the bus or on the car and I read at university if I have any spare time. So to summarize this I read anywhere and everywhere.

Read out loud or silently in your head?

I read silently in my head because, again, I find reading out loud too distracting. I guess we can take from this post that I distract VERY easily 😅. Besides it would be weird if I were at university reading out loud to myself and people saw me.

Do you read ahead or skip pages?

I don't skip pages or read ahead even though I used to sneak a peek when I was at a very interesting point in the story because I would be to anxious to know but I stopped doing that and learnt to control myself and wait for the exciting moment to come.

Now I can't bare the thought of ignoring parts of the story or skipping ahead. Even if I'm listening to an audio book and I didn't payed enough attention to a part of it, no matter how short or unimportant it was I play that part again.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Ammmm... keeping the spine intact. 100%.

Once I read a whole book without fully opening it because the cover wasn't made of a good material and I knew if I opened it completely it would crack and I couldn't bare the thought of it.

Now I just laminate the cover of books like that.

Do you write in your books?

No, usually if I need to mark something I would just put a bookmark but I don't like to scribble or underline in my books.
